The FBI announced that it was reopening its investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server when she was secretary of state based on newly discovered emails that were “pertinent to the investigation.” The new emails were uncovered during the FBI’s investigation into illicit text messages sent to an underage girl by former Rep. Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of close Clinton aide Abedin.

“Investigations are never over, unless a statute of limitations has expired, or unless jeopardy is attached,” Gowdy told Kelly. “So this investigation is over based on what they know, but they don’t know what they don’t know,” he added.

Gowdy, who led the investigation into Clinton’s actions in the terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, suggested that even with the FBI’s statement Sunday, Clinton still had a cloud hanging over her.

Gowdy added, “She is the reason that we are discussing this hours before a general election, not Jim Comey.”
