President Trump celebrated the release of U.S.-based rapper A$AP Rocky after it was announced that he would be let out of prison in Sweden pending the verdict in his assault trial.
“A$AP Rocky released from prison and on his way home to the United States from Sweden,” Trump said Thursday on Twitter. “It was a Rocky Week, get home ASAP A$AP!”

The president’s tweet came minutes after it was reported a Swedish judge delayed the verdict in the rapper’s case.
A$AP Rocky’s attorney told journalist Maddy Savage that the rapper was told he did not need to wait for the verdict in Sweden. The judge said he would issue his verdict on Aug. 14.
A$AP Rocky, whose birth name is Rakim Mayers, was arrested on July 2 after a street fight involving him broke out in Stockholm.
Rapper Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian West both urged the president to seek the release of the rapper.
“I personally don’t know A$AP Rocky, but I can tell you that he has tremendous support from the African American community in this country,” Trump said earlier this month. “And when I say African American, I think I can really say from everybody in this country because we’re all one.”
