Actress Patricia Heaton ripped into Democrats for their party’s “barbaric platform” on abortion.
The Everybody Loves Raymond star asked in a Wednesday tweet why anti-abortion Americans would want to know if they are welcome in the Democratic Party.
“I don’t understand why pro-life people want to know if they are ‘welcome’ to join the democrat party,” Heaton tweeted. “Why would any civilized person want to support a barbaric platform that champions abortion for any reason through all nine months funded by taxpayers?”

Heaton has long been vocal about her anti-abortion beliefs and has served as honorary chairwoman of Feminists for Life, “a pro-woman, pro-life group that works to find solutions to abortion that affirm the dignity of women.”
Her tweet comes after the executive director of Democrats for Life of America, Kristen Day, asked 2020 candidate Pete Buttigieg during a January town hall if the party accepts Democrats who do not support abortion.
“The Democratic platform contains language that basically says, ‘We don’t belong, we have no part in the party because it says abortion should be legal up to nine months, the government should pay for it,'” Day told Buttigieg.
The former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, responded by saying he is proudly pro-abortion and wasn’t going to “trick” her into voting for him by saying otherwise.
“Well, I respect where you’re coming from, and I hope to earn your vote, but I’m not going to try to earn your vote by tricking you,” he said. “I am pro-choice, and I believe that a woman ought to be able to make that decision.”
