The conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch announced Thursday that it obtained more emails revealing instances of Hillary Clinton sending classified information to Clinton Foundation employees through her unsecured private server while she was secretary of state.
The 115 new email exchanges obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request were not part of the thousands of work-related emails Clinton turned over to the State Department. One newly released email from Dec. 6, 2010, shows Clinton sending foundation director Doug Band and Justin Cooper, a former aide to Bill Clinton who managed her private server, information on suspected criminal activity by a major foundation donor, Muhammad Yunus.
In the first email, a person whose identity has been redacted summarizes the accusations against Yunus in a message to a State Department employee. They then engage in an email conversation that has been entirely redacted for containing “foreign relations or foreign activities of the United States, including confidential sources.”
Eventually the thread was forwarded to Clinton. She then forwarded the chain to Band and Cooper with the comment, “More to print for Bill.” Clinton aide Oscar Flores responded in a separate email that has since been marked classified.
In a similar instance on March 14, 2011,, State official Maria Otero sent an email to Clinton that contained classified information about Yunus’ Grameen Bank. Clinton then forwarded the information to her and top aide Huma Abedin’s unsecured clintonemail.com accounts.
The new disclosures came a day after Clinton complained that the scrutiny surrounding her email use was the “biggest nothing burger ever“and helped cost her the 2016 presidential election.
“Obviously, if I could turn the clock back, I wouldn’t have done it in the first place, but the way that it was used was very damaging,” she said.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton reacted to the disclosures by calling for a renewed investigation into the Clinton Foundation.
“The casual violation of laws concerning classified material and noxious influence peddling show the Clinton State Department was ‘corruption central’ in the Obama administration,” he said.
