Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Sally Yates were called in to testify to the Senate in regards to the Russian hacking investigation earlier today.
They thought that they were in for a smooth ride to just go up and say that they can’t talk about anything, but Senator Chuck Grassley had other plans for them.
Grassley wanted to get to the bottom of the issue and while Clapper and Yates were able to deflect most questions, citing classified information as the reason why they couldn’t there were two very important things slip.
The first major thing that Grassley pointed out was that months before any of the documents that WikiLeaks leaked from the DNC, they had received a notice from the FBI that they had been breached.
Instead of doing the sensible thing and letting the FBI investigate the breach, the DNC didn’t let them near their servers and several months later they hired an outside firm to boost their security.
All of the leaked documents came from after they were notified of the breach.
Hmm sounds like they had something they wanted to hide from the FBI doesn’t it.
The second important thing that Clapper let slip was that the intelligence community basically left out that the RNC was hacked and damaging reports about President Trump were released from the hacker Guccifer 2.0.
But there isn’t any bias in the intelligence community or the media. Because the both covered this right?
Wrong on both accounts.
Clapper deflected poorly with the excuse that he wasn’t involved in the day-to-day operations and that he would have to talk to the analysts involved in the report.
OR you wanted to make the DNC look like the only victims here.
Regardless, what Clapper and Sally Yates thought was going to be a routine testimony turned out making them slip up and prove just how biased things are!
